People have always asked my mom, "So, what is Mark interested in today?" Since I was a child, I have been an explorer. I like to know how things work by taking them apart. I am an activist, a traveler, an entrepreneur, and most importantly, a listener.

5 Reasons I Am Occupationally Challenged

As of today, I have gone one full week without a job, in the formal sense of the word. In that week I feel like I have done a lot while not doing much at the same time. I intentionally set that first week to be slow and recouping for me personally. Time to think and relax while knowing that my time after was going to be spent working hard. I am liking my experience thus far and am encouraged by many to continue to further pursue this path. Here are my first 5 reasons for not being formally employed:

1. I am excited to find other opportunities to help nonprofits develop their online outreach and social media campaigns. I see my experience with The 1010 Project as being an incredibly valuable step in learning how to effectively utilize a nonprofit’s small budget to gain maximum results.

2. I started my own company, Denvelopers, LLC.

3. My old manager at Dazbog is giving me the chance to come back and work two days a week if I want to. He’s the greatest and this gives me the flexibility to be earning income if times are slow.

4. I’ve never been working for a goal or towards goals and recently have outlined a few of them. One of them is to work for myself and use my talents to assist nonprofit organizations in their online outreach and social media campaigns as I said before.

5. Lastly, I feel incredibly encouraged by Chris Guillebeau, a man who set out to be a write and spent nearly a year working towards that goal. Check out his website to see what wonderful things he has to say: http://chrisguillebeau.com/3×5/.
