Monday morning I woke up a bit early to fix a flat tire I had from the night before. I had sprayed a can of Fix-A-Flat in it with hopes that I would wake up to a hole-free and drivable rubber surface. However, it was flat. So I went to my trunk and pulled out all the necessary utensils to change my ailing automobile. Stuck the jack underneath the car and cranked her up. I successfully removed the flat but there wasn’t amble room for me to insert the spare. So I began to jack the car up even more.
Let me just pause and say that I’ve learned 3 very important things from this experience:
1. ALWAYS place a rock, blunt object, etc. underneath the back tires
2. Pull the car’s emergency brake
3. Stick the flat tire underneath the car for protection
Now with these three things not in mind, I proceeded to attempt to get my Camry a few more inches of the ground. In an instant something shifted and the jack began to tip. It creaked and groaned and finally hit the pavement with a resounding thud. I didn’t act on instinct to try and stop anything, I just watched. Had I done something stupid and I might have a much more interesting story to tell and one less limb. I sat and stared at my immobilized vehicle. I was floored. What do you do? No jack, no possible solution in site but to spend a load of money to have someone come out and meet me.
Enter a kind stranger.
He pulled out of the Argonaut Liquor parking lot (mind you it was about 8 AM) and rolled down his window and gave me a shout. “You need any help?” he asked. Yes, yes I did need some help. Within minutes he had pulled out his lower profile jack and had the spare tire successfully on. I was floored by this stranger’s kindness. Seems like every time I get in a bind, someone comes along to help me out. Read A Tire Iron And The Kindness Of Strangers to see how fortunate I have been this last month.

Dad & I are thankful that you are OK! Best way to learn lessons, I guess, is to have the experiences – both good & bad. Good stranger, bad jack. Did you get the flat on the way home from our house on Sunday? Love you, M&D
I did. Stopped off at a gas station and got some fix a flat but that didn’t do the trick. My tires are REALLY bald so it’s about time anyways.
